IIT Madras Leads India’s Hyperloop Research, No Recent Updates from IIT Bombay

February 28, 2025 – IIT Madras, in collaboration with Indian Railways, has developed India’s first 422-meter hyperloop test track, designed for speeds exceeding 1,000 km/h. The government has granted an additional $1 million to support further research, with plans for a 40-50 km commercial hyperloop project. This technology could significantly reduce travel time, such as Bengaluru to Chennai in just 30 minutes. Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw highlighted the importance of government-academia collaboration in advancing transport innovation. No recent hyperloop developments have been reported from IIT Bombay.
